Start with the building

Whatever the space,
we’ll get the most production out of it.

Four things about the space set how many growing levels fit, how long the racks run, and what the room can produce in a week. Send us those four and we’ll come back with a layout and a number.

Floor area
The examples on this page run from about 1,800 sq ft to 21,800, and they don’t stop there — bigger sites get designed the same way. One contiguous run beats the same area split across rooms.
Clear height
At 9.5 ft you get four growing levels. At 15 ft, seven. At 24 ft, twelve. Measure to the lowest obstruction — joists, sprinklers, ductwork — not the deck.
Power
Three-phase service sized to the lighting and climate load. Your electrical contractor sizes it from our load schedule, which ships with the engineering package.
Water & drain
A potable supply and a floor drain. Fertigation recirculates, so the running consumption is well below the volume in the system.
None of this is a hard cutoff. A low ceiling just means fewer levels and longer racks. Limited power means a different lighting and climate strategy. Send us the numbers and we’ll tell you straight what the space can carry.

Frequently asked questions

What crops can a HYVE system grow?

Leafy greens and lettuces (butterhead, romaine, red leaf), basil and fresh herbs (genovese, Thai, cilantro, mint, dill), arugula, kale, specialty and microgreens (watercress, sorrel, shiso), and custom salad blends — 50+ varieties across the platform. Your crop mix drives the rack layout, the environment strategy and the throughput figures, so it is one of the first things we ask for.

Can I use the software without buying a HYVE system?

Yes. Digital Cultivation is available as a standalone SaaS product for existing farms running third-party sensors and equipment, and it supports ERP integration so you do not have to re-platform. On a HYVE system it is included — there is no software tier and no sensing upgrade, so a Pilot runs the same stack a Mega does.
